Integration of Blogger and Facebook

Facebook has the capability of being linked to blog sites through the use of what is referred to as a badge. A badge is created from your Facebook page then inserted into your blog as a widget. A blog can also be linked to Facebook to allow followers of your Facebook page to view the recent blog entries. The ability to link blogs and Facebook is a very important aspect in business which allows the collaboration between sites. You can also link your blog to Facebook by going to the share tab at the top of your blogger site and once the tab is opened you will see the list of choices. You then choose Facebook and that will open your Facebook profile so that you can title the link. The accompanying video also shows a way to accomplish the linking of a blog to Facebook.

Integration of Blogger and Twitter

Twitter, being one of the fastest growing social networking and micro-blogging services available today, has the capability of being linked to blog sites through the entries that are made on each tweet. The accompanying video discusses the ability that Twitter has to allow linking of sites through the use of tweets, which are the 140 characters or less that are referred to as tweets. A blog can also be linked to Twitter to allow followers of a blog to view the recent tweets that are being followed. The url of the site is added to the tweet as part of the text of the tweet. If the url is too large, it can be reduced in size to allow the objective to be completed by the use of a site such as TinyURL which reduces the size of a link to a manageable but unique size for the site url. The ability to link blogs and twitter is a very important aspect in business which allows the collaboration between sites.

Presentation for Mobile International Festival

Well, Now that I have played around with Google Presentations for a while, I have put together a slide presentation which is accessible through my Google Doc's stored documents. I plan to attempt to use this presentation to display what I have learned from Google Presentations to the rest of the Electronic Media class at The University of Mobile. It seems to work well, but would work better for myself if I had a faster download and upload speed from my internet provider. I just have the basic, but am considering an upgrade. I created the presentation in PowerPoint and uploaded it to the Google Doc's site. It didn't seem to want to work at first, but could have been high traffic or my internet speed may have had some affect. For what ever reason it seems to have uploaded into Google Doc's O.K. The only thing that I had to do was re-arrange some of the wording on the slides which it allowed me to do.

A Google Presentation Example

I worked up a brief example of a Google presentation and created a link to it. Let's see how this turns out. It seems to work well, but try it for yourself. I don't know that a Google presentation has the flexibility that one such as PowerPoint has, but if you don't have access to PowerPoint it could be a fair substitute. There are many of the same features that PowerPoint has, you just have to get used to using them, and they are stored for you and can be accessed later at Google Doc's. Once you have your own Google account you will have access to these features.

About Presentations

Presentations, whether from Google or PowerPoint or any other brand of presentation software, can enhance your job performance and credibility. It depends on what type of profession that you are in as to whether or not presentations are very important to you. The knowledge worker is most apt to benefit from presentation software. Providing a clear and concise presentation to your boss that outlines your ideas will enhance your credibility with him or her. If you are in school, presentations may be an important part of your performance grade. Presentations allow you to format your ideas in such a way that they become more clear and concise to the audience that you show the presentation to.
The Google presentations are part of Google Doc's. You'll have to go to Google Doc's and select down to presentations. From that point you can choose to narrow your template selection down to Hottest, Most Users, Highest Rating, by Category, or by language.
PowerPoint is part of Microsoft office suite. You will have basic presentation templates and you can go to the Microsoft website and choose from many more templates.

Google Presentations

With Google presentations, you can easily create, share, and edit online presentations. Here are some things you can do with Google presentations:

  • Import presentations in .ppt and .pps file types and export your online ones.
  • Insert images and videos, and format your slides as you want.
  • Allow simultaneous real-time viewing of presentations, online, from remote locations.
  • Publish and embed your presentations in a website for the world to view.
There are thousands of templates to choose from using Google Presentations.
I guess the hardest thing I found about this site, so far, was what it takes to get there.

Uploading presentations

You can upload existing presentations to Google presentations at any time. Here's how:

  1. Click the Upload button at the top of the sidebar in your Docs list page.
  2. Click Browse.
  3. Select the presentation you'd like to open.
  4. Click Open.
  5. Click Upload File. The uploaded file appears in your Docs list.
Below is a sample of just one of the templates available from Google Presentations.

Presentations

Through the use of this blog, I will be attempting to discover options related to presentations such as Google presentations and other more well known options such as PowerPoint. The intent is to provide feedback as to the effectiveness or ineffectiveness of each presentation option.

Meaning of presentation from Wikipedia
Setting forth in words and visuals a speech to enlighten an audience and/or persuade them to commit themselves to a course of action. An effective presentation is usually planned, organized, and tailored to a specific audience to help facilitate the behavior change, desired by the presenter. For example, presentations are frequently made by advertising agencies when pitching an account to communicate an agency's qualifications and experience. Presentations always involve face-to-face communication and can be made on a one-to-one basis or can be given to a very large group. For small presentations, blackboards, easel pads, prepared graphs, flip charts, or overhead slides are common visual aids used to enhance a presentation. Films, slides, videos, or modern computer-graphics are examples of visual aids used for large group presentations.

The following video is a brief example of a Microsoft PowerPoint tutorial.
